Cookie Program
The troop can earn a
large portion of its operating expenses from participating in the council
Cookie Program. This program teaches girls goal setting, responsibility
and money management. Some important information:
-
Only registered girls are
eligible to participate.
-
Daisy Girl Scouts do
not participate in the Cookie Program and do not handle money.
-
You will
want to make sure your Troop has a Cookie Manager. You, as the
Leader, can do it but, it is strongly advised that you have someone else
do it. You are handling enough already!
-
Your
Cookie Manager should be someone you trust. They should be
registered as a Girl Scout.
-
To take
part in the Cookie Program, your Financial Report for the previous year
must have been turned in. Your Neighborhood Dues should have been
paid as well.
-
Dates
(exact dates still to be determined):
-
Dec. - Cookie
Training. Your Cookie Manager will get everything she/he needs
to know for the Cookie Sale!
-
Jan. - Pre-Orders
Begin. Girl Scouts take pre-orders on cookies. Money is
not accepted until the cookies are delivered.
-
Feb. - Cookies are
delivered! A schedule for pick up will be distributed prior to
the date.
-
Feb. - Open Sales
Begin. Time for booth sales! Your troop will have ample
opportunity to sign up for booth sale times.
-
Mar. - Cookie Sales
End. (Usually first weekend in Mar.)
-
Apr./May. -
Cookie Recognitions arrive. The "prizes" the girls earn depending on
the amount of cookies sold will arrive.
-
In order
to do other Money Earning projects, your Troop must take part in the
Cookie Sale.
Plenty of information
about the specifics of the Cookie Program will be made available at Leader
Meetings as the year gets started!
