Money Earning

OK, I Know We Covered This Already!

Sure did!  But, it's an area that seems to cause a fair amount of confusion.  We'll just review the highlights!

  1. Council policies state that only troops who participate in the council-sponsored sale may organize other money earning projects.

  2. Money earning projects are not the focus of Girl Scout program.

  3. Money earning projects should be discussed with girls only after it is determined that proceeds from dues and the product program are not enough to support troop plans.

  4. A Money Earning Project Application must be submitted and approved before proceeding.

  5. Money is spent the same year it is earned.  Exceptions are made for Troops who have Intent to Travel forms on file at the Council Office.

  6. Girl members may not engage in any direct solicitation of money as Girl Scouts.

  7. Sales of products like Tupperware, Discovery Toys, Lloyds of London,...and/or coupons such as Gold C Coupon Book, Entertainment Coupon Book, pizza coupons,... are not allowed.

  8. Girl Scouts can not do anything that appears to endorse any product not approved by the National organization.  That includes selling cans of pop or other brand items at events.

  9. Raffles and bingo are prohibited

  10. Any money earning project may not be counted as service hours, or to fulfill requirements for awards and insignias.

  11. Girl Scout troops may not earn money by providing program to other Girl Scouts.

  12. To avoid disappointment, it is best to ask questions before planning any money earning activity.

Daisy Girl Scouts do not handle money.
