Cookie Booth Sales - Important Guidelines   February 2005

Let’s make sure we are welcome back to the same stores next year by helping girls follow these guidelines:

  • Only sell to customers as they are exit the store.
  • Do not block the entrance to the store.

  • Unfortunately, no siblings at open sale locations.

  • Do not ask the store for change.

  • Be sure girls do not run around the location. Every year we get complaints that risk our return.

  • Girls should always, always be accompanied by an adult in the stores, especially on bathroom trips.

  • Take all garbage and empty boxes with you!

  • Most important of all...Have Fun !!!

World Thinking Day (Feb.22) is a special day when Girl Scouts and Girl Guides all around the world think of each other and give thanks and appreciation to their "sister" Girl Scouts.

Cookie Money - Who Does it Belong To?

Girls participate to the best of their abilities and situations with money earning, whether it’s selling, planning or other supporting activities. All money earned from cookies or other money earning activities belongs to the Troop. The money never becomes the property of individual girls or adults.

And, finally, as the money belongs to the Troop, the Troop should be making the decisions (age appropriately) about how to manage their money. Your Leader can share with you how your Troop’s age level makes money decisions.

Is the purchase of GS cookies® tax-deductible?

No and Yes.

No, if the customer keeps the cookies.

Yes, if the customer leaves the cookies with Girl Scouts for use in a service project like donating to a food pantry. (from www.girlscouts.org)

Missing GS Activities

It seems as the year goes on we all get busier and busier! Please be sure to notify your Troop Leader as soon as you know your daughter will miss a meeting or event. Leaders prepare materials, buy supplies and/or pay fees in advance.

By taking a few moments to let your Leader know as soon as possible about the absence, you will be saving her/him time and work and saving the Troop money!

“Is my daughter ready to spend the night at the Nhbd Spring Campout?”

Readiness is based on her physical/social maturity, her abilities, skills, and knowledge. Progression in GS activities is important in preparing girls. To help you assess your daughter’s readiness, visit this page!
