| What is a First Aider? |
A Girl Scout first-aider is an adult who has taken Girl Scout council-approved first-aid and CPR training. First-aiders are needed for physically demanding activities and other activities involving a potential for injury. There are two levels of first-aid training for Girl Scouts:
• LEVEL 1 first aid is required of the adult acting as the primary first-aider for the Girl Scout group activities indicated in the activity checkpoints.
Local classes:
| American Red Cross | First Aid/Adult CPR |
| Tualatin Fire and Rescue | Heartsaver CPR/1ST AID Combination Class - Adult & Pediatric |
| Girl Scouts - Columbia River Council | See offerings and information |
• LEVEL 2 first aid is required of the adult acting as the first-aider at a resident camp; in core staff and family camping; at day events, overnights, and camping events with more than two hundred participants; and when activity check points indicate that level 2 first aid is needed.
Leaders should take advantage of the first-aid training offered by local chapters of American Red Cross, National Safety Council, EMP America, or equivalent courses as approved by their Girl Scout council.
