| Health Histories/Health Examinations |
|
As noted in the text accompanying Program Standard 3 (page 64), a health history is required annually for participation in physically demanding activities such as water sports, horse back riding, or skiing. A health examination within the preceding 24 months is required for participation in resident camping, in a trip of more than three nights, or in organized competitive sports. A health history or health examination may be required of adults participating in extended trips or physically demanding activities. Information from a health examination is confidential and should only be shared with persons who have a need to know in order to protect the health and safety of the participant and other participants. The statement may include accommodations that are determined to be necessary to allow participation in the activity. If the leader cannot determine how the accommodation(s) may be accomplished, she should ask the council for assistance. Although health examinations are necessary to protect the health and welfare of the girls, obtaining them may be a financial burden for some. Check with your council for options. |
