GENERAL Neighborhood Service Team responsibilities

Whether the Neighborhood Service Team meets monthly or less often, as a group they carry the responsibility to support adult volunteers and to guide the planning of Neighborhood activities.  These include:


OVERVIEW: members of the SERVICE TEAM

The Neighborhood Chairperson may appoint other volunteers to the Service Team to meet specific needs.

Neighborhood Chair: Volunteer manager for Neighborhood. Appoints Service Team members and Leaders. Ensures volunteers fulfill responsibilities of their positions. Chairs regularly schedule the Service Team and Neighborhood Leaders Meetings. Appoints other Service Team members delegates Neighborhood tasks to them. Appointed by Membership Manager.

Assistant Neighborhood Chair: Provides Neighborhood Chair with support. Specific tasks are mutually agreed upon between the Assistant and Neighborhood Chair.

Program Consultant: Ensures leaders attend training and have the support they need to be successful. Makes presentations on a variety of leader topics at every Neighborhood Leaders Meeting. Guides the Girl Scout leaders through the year.

Neighborhood Organizer: Plans and supervises recruitment events, Back-to-School nights, etc.  Informs the Service Team of all recruitment activity happening throughout the Neighborhood. This would include placement of girls from waiting list, exchange of effective recruitment strategies and gaps in service caused by lack of School Organizers or oversights. Maintains the waiting list.

School Organizer: is the “authority” on the internal activities of the school or schools served. Develops recruitment strategies to obtain the desired end result: serve more girls. School Organizers can attend the Service Team meeting or communicate their need through the Organizer. Works with the Organizer to facilitate the placement of girls from the waiting list.

Registrar: Ensures Neighborhood volunteers and girls are registered in a timely manner and forms are completed properly. Keeps Service Team informed of each troop’s registration status. Promotes Spring Re-registration. Maintains registration records within the Neighborhood.

Neighborhood Treasurer: Maintains records of Neighborhood finances. Ensures policies and procedures regarding Neighborhood finances are followed. Provides accounting of Neighborhood funds to Service Team and Neighborhood.  Ensures Annual Financial Report is submitted by all Gilr Scout Troops.

Neighborhood Cookie Program Manager: Program needs to be a component of cookies year-round, so Neighborhood Cookie Manager is involved year-round. Planning and educational opportunities are offered by the Neighborhood Cookie Manager at Neighborhood Leader’s meetings.

Family Giving Coordinator: Ensures Family Giving is promoted and organized in the Neighborhood.  May coordinate a Family Giving Event.  Shares information surrounding Family Giving and encourages giving by Neighborhood members.
